Principal Consultant
Dr. Garcia’s research and presentations have focused on issues related to equity and liberation for marginalized communities, drawing on poststructuralism and critical race feminist theories. In 2016, she received the TRIO Rising Star award for the Colorado region. She was named Woman of the Year by the Institute of Women’s Studies at MSU Denver in 2017. She was named the recipient of the William Cross Jr. Award for leadership in Inclusive Excellence at the University of Denver in 2019. She was presented with the 2021 Staff Champion of the Year for MSU Denver and received the MLK Kr. Peace Award in 2022. She was also named a CCASA activist awardee in 2022 and, most recently, was named the Ruth Murray Underhill Teaching recipient at the University of Denver. She is a co-founder of a women’s fastpitch league in Denver, The United Women’s Fastpitch Coalition

Sylvia Garcia has over 40 years of public service experience in state government and higher education. Her expertise includes building new offices and programming to support student access and retention; developing processes and structures to support successful accreditation reviews for institutions of higher learning; leading and building teams; and analyzing and implementing institutional policies.
Sylvia has traveled across the nation to provide student assessment workshops and has worked with various higher education teams to build successful assessment processes and procedures.

He provides one-on-one coaching, individualized curriculum development, and facilitation support to clients in a variety of industries.
